For this show,,,I decided it was time to enjoy a little sightseeing. We saw the broadway show "Kinky Boots" (highly recommended!) We had front row seats which were great! Here's mom peering into the orchestra. It's really cool to see the musicians jive to the music they are creating!
We're going to the New York Now gift show from Saturday to Wednesday. Yes, we will do a little bit of touring Saturday and Sunday but beginning Monday it's balls to the walls looking for hip and trendy fun fantastic gifts to order for the "big season:. We will try to post as much as we can while away,,,so stay tuned!
I studied the guage for two days,,,,knowing that designing inspiration would come to me,,,and it did. I thought that the food pantry's shopping bag logo would perfect for the circle, but it needed something else. Hands. Hands in a show of love, support, community. I love it!
Super excited, I was now ready to measure out 2000 pounds in 100 pound increments. I painted every other block green and purple, and then outlined that in black paint to give it a more polished look. Next, I used stencils with yellow paint to mark 100 thru 1900. I am going to make a special 2000 for the top, (think crown) but haven't gotten there yet. I really like this design and hope we are able to achieve our goal of raising 2000 pounds of non-perishable food for the Mansfield Food Pantry!
The result of design and decorating the gauge for glee gifts 2014 Food Drive to benefit the Mansfield Food Pantry is really looking good. Joanie, who has extremely nice handwriting, is now leading the effort to do the handwriting. As she so elequently said, "Your handwriting sucks." And I couldn't agree more.
Here's what she accomplished today--it looks fantastic and I although it's a slow time of year, I hope that folks from in and around the community donate to our goal to raise 2000 pounds of food for Our Daily Bread: Mansfield's Food Pantry. It's a beautiful sunny day so I decided to work on decorating the gauge. Store colors are green and purple and since I have so much of that paint hanging around I decided to begin with those colors. After taping parts off, I had a field day spray painting!
In the meantime, I asked my co-hort Julie from the food pantry to ask clients if they would be willing to let us know what the food pantry meant to them. My wish is to decorate the guage with their thoughts to give the whole project more meaning. We placed the undecorated gauge at the pantry for two weeks. The remarks people wrote were amazing! I am truly excited by this project and hope that we get many customers to share in our excitement to collect 2,000 pounds of non-perishable food donations!
During the month of August glee gifts is sponsoring a food drive for Our Daily Bread: Mansfield's Food Pantry. We are going to raise one ton of food! That's 2000 pounds! And we need your help!
We are tracking your donations with this gauge. I mentioned the project to my BF and voila,,,,,,look what he designed and built for us! Now, how do I decorate it? And we have to come up with a really cool raffle idea for those who make a donation.
