gifts story
We appreciate your interest in
glee and couldn't be more delighted to tell you the
story of how glee gifts came to be between two friends,
Ann and Nadine.
Way back when, our children were in the same
daycare while we were working the grind in corporate America. It was through
our boys at daycare that we met. The kids became fast friends, which lead to a
close friendship between the two of us. In 2002, Ann left corporate America as
a result of downsizing. Nadine followed in 2003, choosing to be home with her
children. In the beginning of our friendship we started a ritual where we
exchanged a "gift ball". The gift ball is an old English tradition used to pass
a special favor back and forth between friends, sisters and mothers - to be
exchanged through the years as an occasion arises. (You too can start a ritual
with your best buddy! Come in and pick up a
gift ball today!) We continue exchanging the ball to this day to celebrate our
friendship. The gifts we exchange vary from the season's newest color in
fingernail polish to a funky tee-shirt to whimsical wine glasses. The cost of
the gift doesn't matter; it's the sentiment that counts.
Fast forward a few years. Although we met
through daycare, we found we had more in common than just kids and corporate
life. We wanted to combine our vast experience, talents, skills and friendship
to create a great business venture together. A business that would keep us
close to our kids, allow us to be creative and make a difference in people's
lives through gift giving. Hence, glee gifts opened on
Main Street in Mansfield in April of 2005 and it's been a blast. Fast forward a
few more years to 2008. Nadine left the business to pursue other interests and
Ann is busy as ever, running the business on her own, still dedicated to
finding a fabulous array of whimsical, sexy and trendsetting merchandise for
her customers to enjoy for years to come.

The mission of the DBA is to promote and
support the businesses within the North Main Street confines with community
events, promotions and participation in future planning and development of the
downtown.
The Mansfield Downtown Business Association
was formed over 20 years ago as a group of concerned business people trying to
work together to create opportunities for marketing the downtown. They met to
bounce ideas off each as well as offer advertising in their monthly newspaper.
Over the years, events such as the Safe Trick or Treat, Sidewalk Sale,
Christmas Parade on Main Street and the Holiday Stroll were introduced to bring
the community to North Main Street. Today, the DBA is working diligently to
make sure North Main Street and surrounding areas remain viable. For more
information on how to join please call Ann at 508-339-4533. |
